Behind the Work
I’m an Australian artist and printmaker, and my work is shaped by rural life, the landscape and the places I call home. Working across cyanotype and fine art photography, my work reflects the familiar details of life on the land, horses, agriculture and the changing Australian landscape.
From the Land
I didn’t set out to become an artist. My work grew from a love of photography, rural life and the places and details I’ve always been drawn to.
Living and working on the land has shaped the way I see things, the changing seasons, horses, crops, weather, texture and light. They’re ordinary parts of rural life, but they’re also the things I find myself returning to again and again in my work.
From Photograph to Print
I began exploring cyanotype while looking for a new way to create art that still embraced the photography skills I had spent years developing.
What drew me to the process was the meeting of old and new. My cyanotypes begin with my own photography, using modern technology to transform those images before returning to a photographic process that dates back to the 1800s. From there, sunlight, chemistry and water take over.
I love that balance. Using the tools we have now while still creating each piece by hand through one of photography’s earliest processes.
